How Compare Two Lists works

ExactDiff counts normalized values on each side, then reports shared items and values unique to either list.

The comparison is deterministic: the same files and settings produce the same classification. File contents remain inside the current browser session.

Get a cleaner result

  1. 01Use one item per line.
  2. 02Enable trimming for copied data.
  3. 03Keep case-sensitive mode for hashes or tokens.

Frequently asked questions

How many lines can I compare?

The browser can handle thousands comfortably; extremely large lists depend on device memory.

Can I download the result?

Yes. Results export as a CSV report.

Practical guide

How to compare two lists

Put one value on each line in List A and List B. The values can be IDs, email addresses, SKUs, domains, keywords, or any other plain-text records.

ExactDiff compares the lists in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded, and you can export the result as CSV when you need to keep or share the findings.

  1. Paste or open a local text file on each side.
  2. Choose whether to trim surrounding spaces or ignore letter case.
  3. Run the comparison and review shared, added, removed, and changed occurrence counts.

What each list result means

Shared values occur in both lists. Added values occur only in List B, and removed values occur only in List A. Extra occurrences contribute to the duplicate summary, and a value is reported as changed when its occurrence count differs between the two lists.

The comparison is exact after the normalization options you select. It does not guess that similar names or misspelled identifiers refer to the same person or item.

List comparison, column comparison, or text diff?

Use this page when order does not matter and each line is one record. Use column comparison for values copied directly from spreadsheet columns, CSV comparison when rows have several fields and a key, or text diff when sentence and line order are meaningful.
